Apple's iLife '11 might have arrived with much fanfare, but there is some bad news going around related to iPhoto '11. Reports are in that some users are losing some or all of their photo libraries when upgrading. It probably isn't too widespread an issue just yet, or everybody would be complaining. That being said, the folks who have been affected are complaining about it, especially in the forums. It's also worth noting that iPhoto '11 drops support for older Apple TVs along with photo calendars that are available in the current version of iPhoto. Regardless of whether you think your photos will be affected or not, it's always a good practice to backup your data before performing and upgrade, and if you decide to do so, you can always pick it up for $49 from Amazon. A possible solution for folks who have been affected by this bug includes repairing the disk permissions in full, which you might want to try if you've already been affected.
